Job Description: Engineer

Position Title: Engineer
Location: Irvine, CA
Reports To: Technical Manager
Salary Range: $60-$80,000/yr, BOE

With supervision this job is responsible to manage and maintain the connectivity of computer network systems to ensure the reliable operation of the clients' technological needs. This includes configuring, maintaining, and optimizing new and existing network hardware, software, and communication links. Administer servers and services in a Microsoft environment with a high level of competency and reliability. Correspond with executives and top management with regards to technology needs and status of projects. Provide technical support to end users on computer issues. Document and update requests for support as well as the resolution.
Provide troubleshooting expertise to server related issues. Update clients' workstations and servers with latest patches and security releases. Resolve problems related to Operating Systems and/or desktop applications. Facilitate communications between hardware/software vendors when necessary.

Required Responsibilities:

� Design, develop and/or customizes systems and components to achieve specific objectives within a project.
� Assists in integrating new systems/designs into production.
� Assists in areas of disaster recovery, technical walkthrough, and documentation and standards.
� Provides first rate support to clients'.
� Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network hardware and equipment, including Cisco routers, switches, concentrators, etc.
� Schedules equipment repairs and preventive maintenance and backup processes.
� Plan, acquire and coordinate installation of in-house and remote hardware and software across the organization's network.
� Develop and deploy methodologies for testing network performance and providing network performance statistics and reports.
� Operates and maintains networks, tracks significant problems, monitors performance and performs upgrades to hardware and software as required.
� Implements necessary actions to resolve procedural or operational problems.
� Confers with vendor to resolve hardware and software problems and also implements new system processes.
� Practices network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation.
� Design, code and test software to ensure completeness, while adhering to company standards.
� Keeps up to date with latest technology in the field.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

� Assist with other duties and /or projects as assigned by senior staff.

Work Ethics:

� Maintains a clean and organized telecommunications room or closet.
� Effectively communicate with internal client service department and management.
� Excellent communication skills with the client without the use of excessive technical terms.
� Recognizes the relative importance of tasks and sets appropriate priorities.
� Performs duties with consideration to user activity.
� Is able to adapt to changing company requirements and needs.
� Works as part of a team with other IT personnel and employees.
� Excellent documentation skills (a must have)
� Strong analytical and exceptional troubleshooting skills
� Strong project management and organization skills
� Able to manage and complete multiple projects simultaneously

� Windows NT, 2000, and 2003 Servers including, AD (Active Directory), DNS, DCHP, WINS, file and print services.
� Microsoft IIS 4/5/6
� Microsoft SQL Server 6.5/7/2000
� Microsoft Terminal Server
� Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, 2000, 2003 including SMTP and POP3 configurations.
� Veritas Backup Exec or other and Enterprise-specific network based backup solution.
� Trend Micro, Norton Antivirus, McAfee, Panda AV products in a corporate environment.
� Citrix MetaFrame and Presentation Server
� Microsoft CRM
� SonicWall Firewall/VPN
� WatchGuard Firewall/VPN
� Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP Professional
� Microsoft Office 2000/XP/2003 Professional
� Desktop/Enterprise PDA/Phone experience preferred

Certifications:
